Slow your breath down…

September 9, 2011

Feel alone and abandoned? Hurt? Is the pain so strong that no one and nothing can make it go away? Check this out:

The song is “Slow Your Breath” by Future of Forestry. Close your eyes and listen especially to the lyrics. The music builds culminating in the third stanza that is full of redemption and hope of God’s boundless love:

If you leave I’ll still be close to you

When all your fears rain down

I’ll take you back a thousand times again

I’ll take you as my own

I would sing you songs of innocence

‘Til the light of morning comes

‘Til the rays of gold and honey cover you

In the sweetness of the dawn

But you’re always on the run

 You’re not alone

You’re now a part of me

You feel the cure

I’ll feel the toil it brought you

We need to be reminded (sometimes daily) that no matter how heavy our sins are on our shoulders, the binding chains of regrets, and the endless struggles–Jesus Christ takes us just as we are. He holds us in his sacred heart. He helps us to be worthy to enter Heaven and spend eternity with him through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Catechism 1468); Communion (Catechism 1337); praying in Adoration (Catechism 1418); through acts of charity (Catechism 1826); being a witness to our Catholic faith (Catechism 2145).

You’re not alone.

Isn’t that comforting? He is always with us till the end of time (cf. Matthew 28:20).
